Before we plant a single seed for 2026, I started designing my bouquet recipes 💐✨ Mapping out seasonal blooms first helps clear the fog of farm planning and gives me a roadmap for what to grow and when.
From spring poppies and ranunculus to summer’s abundance of zinnias and lisianthus to autumn’s dahlias and sunflowers, each recipe will guide the season ahead! 🌱

And just like that…I began my dream! 🏡🚜🌻

Since 2022, I’ve saved every dollar, made intentional financial choices, hustled at my day job, and experienced tremendous growth. I also nurtured flowers, sold them, tried new things, took courses, faced failures, and celebrated successes.

My unwavering determination to own land for my passion for growing flowers and starting a flower farm surpassed even my own expectations.

But it wasn’t just the dream of starting a flower farm that brought me here. It was the deep love I developed for myself, believing I deserved more. The power of self-love is profound. When you genuinely love and believe in yourself, it draws in others who support and uplift you. Without the love and encouragement from @petal.woodshop, @cindyelkins11, and the rest of my family and friends, I might not have achieved this.

I want to show everyone that with determination, willpower, self-love, and a passion for growth, anything is possible. This week, I proved to myself and others that you can truly pursue your dreams. It’s all up to you!

A friendly update! 🌼

We’ve been a bit quiet on socials this summer, but for good reason! We’ve been navigating one of the biggest steps towards our dream: purchasing a home with land for our future flower farm in the Catskills 🌲

It’s been exciting, overwhelming, and full of unexpected lessons (hello New York real estate quirks 👀). From finding the right agent (@theupstateagents 🫶), to building a team, to dealing with curveballs like surprise property line issues…it’s been a journey, and we aren’t done yet!

Is anyone else sick of these dang lanternflies?! I know I am…😠

When trying to find a sustainable way to get rid of them without using pesticides or methods that might harm other pollinators 🐝🦋 I came across a video suggesting vacuuming them and then disposing of them in soapy water. Soooo…we did just that! It seemed to work too! We must have caught over 200 of these suckers.

We grabbed the shop vac, poured water and dish soap into it, grabbed the extension cord, and identified the pests and sucked them right up!

Why go to all the trouble? These lanternflies are dangerously invasive, destroying trees and plants by sucking sap from their stems and trunks. This process infects the trees and plants, creating mold that reduces the amount of light reaching the leaves and decreases photosynthesis.

I also wondered why we had so many yellowjackets, wasps, hornets, etc. this summer. Luckily, they love to chomp on these lanternflies due to their sugary secretion (ew), but it’s made our garden and the outside of the house almost unbearable to be out and enjoy. Don’t worry, though, the nectar from the remaining flowers is still a great sugary substitute for the insects.

Hope this method inspires you to combat the petty lanternflies and protect the other pollinators!
